Introduction to B.Sc. Biotechnology

B.Sc. Biotechnology is for the modern and interdisciplinary course of study which includes the areas of biology and technology. This subject deals with consuming structures in living organisms and how technology has the potential to enhance health care delivery, food production, disease control and preservation of natural resources.

Among others the course is set out to ensure that the students are conversant with knowledge on genetic engineering, molecular biology, bioinformatics, cell biology and other such advanced topics. Biotechnology is most associated with disease management and new treatment discovery; in drug discovery and in altering agriculture through Genetically Modified Foods.

B.Sc. Biotechnology Eligibility Criteria

To follow a course of B.Sc. in Biotechnology, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Academic Qualification: The candidate should have completed 12th standard (10+2) with PCB (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) as options from a recognised board.
  • Minimum Marks: In clearer terms, the desired PCB stream score required by each institution may range from 50-60 % on average.
  • Entrance Exam: In some of the universities even the candidates are required to write an entrance examination so that they can be admitted in the program.

B.Sc. Biotechnology Course Overview
